Graduated Driver Licence (GDL) Exit Course / Defensive Driving Course
YOUNG DRIVERS (Defensive Driving)
This is a six hour course designed for anyone needing:
GRADUATED DRIVER LICENCE EXIT COURSE (GDL):
New drivers are required to attend this course, to have the “N” removed from your licence. if you have not attended a full driving course with 25 hours of classroom training and 10 hours of In Car Lessons. To graduate from the “Newly Licensed” stage drivers must also have at least two years of driving experience without any suspensions.
MANDATORY DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSE:
For those who have received a notice or letter from the Registry of Motor Vehicles Driver Compliance requiring them to attend and successfully complete a recognized self-improvement 6 hr defensive driving course.
POINT REDUCTION PROGRAM:
The Registrar may deduct up to four points from the record of a driver who has successfully completed a self-improvement defensive driving course. The points deducted are those that were first entered and are still existing on the driver’s record. (Note: This does not apply to persons under the Graduated Licensing System.)
Defensive Driving Training is a theory based course instructing participants to drive in such a way that they consciously reduce the dangers associated with driving. They do this by anticipating dangerous scenarios, which could range from bad weather to dangerous motorists. This course (GDL Exit Course) can be taken at any time after obtaining a learners licence. Young Drivers encourages you to complete this as soon as possible. What you learn may help you to avoid a collision!
