METI’s Joint Occupational Health & Safety Representative – JOHS Training
provides instruction on how to establish and maintain an effective
committee and explains the roles and functions of committees and
representatives. Training provides practical and relevant introductory
training to Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committees and Safety
Representatives while providing information on why committees are
required, and the importance of health and safety law as it applies to your
workplace. Participants will be given tools and information that can have an
immediate impact on workplace health and safety, by delivering instruction
for committees and representatives in all provinces and territories as well
as those in the Federal Jurisdiction 4.

Blueprint and Plan Reading Training will enable you to read and interpret
construction and environment plans and blueprints. Training is for anyone
who uses blueprints; whether a manager, planner or worker. Blueprints and
plans are used in a variety of industries and on countless projects.
Blueprints are 2-dimensional architectural design drawings that indicate
the size of a planned building, the materials to be used in its construction,
and the placement of its features.

METI’s Class 1 Driver – Tractor Trailer Program prepares you to become a
professional driver by following and meeting the standard for Tractor
Trailer Training criteria set by the Trucking Human Resource Sector Council
(THRSC) and industry.

Upon completion of this classroom based and practical learning experience,
the participant should be able to demonstrate safe operation of a Skid Steer,
while identifying and controlling specific health and safety hazards
associated with operating.

Upon completion of Air Brakes Course, you will take the Nova Scotia
Registry of Motor Vehicles Air Brakes Test, required to be issued an
‘Air Brake Endorsement’. An Air Brake Endorsement Permits the holder to
drive vehicles equipped with air brakes in the class of vehicle for which the
driver is licensed.

This half- day (4 hour) course, as delivered in conjunction with the Alberta
Construction Safety Association, will enable the participant to demonstrate
safe work practices associated with traffic control, as prescribed by Alberta
Transportation and Utilities.

Upon completion of this classroom based and practical learning experience,
the participant should be able to effectively don and use Air Purifying
Respirators, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus, and Supplied Air
Breathing Apparatus and to perform duties associated with Bottle Watch.
