Ground Disturbance Level 201 Supervisory Course

This course is a comprehensive guide to Ground Disturbance and meets the requirements for Level 201 (Supervisor Level). It is designed for anyone who may be required to undertake ground disturbance or work in proximity to a ground disturbance in Canada. You will be able to develop, plan and implement any kind of ground disturbance in a safe and effective manner.

Hoisting and Rigging Training

Hoisting and Rigging Training gives you the industry recognized instruction, training, and certification you need for rigging loads and crane signaling.

Forklift Operator Safety Training

This course will provide the knowledge required for the safe operation of “lift trucks” in compliance with CSA standard B335-15. During the hands-on portion of their training, you will have the opportunity to operate a forklift and will demonstrate the knowledge and the understanding of the inherent hazards while operating a lift truck.

Confined Space (NS) Training

Confined Space Training trains you to effectively serve as a confined space entrant and attendant by instructing you in safe procedures for permitting, entry and safe monitoring.

Occupational Health & Safety Act, OH&S (NS) Training

You will review relevant elements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act while discussing the standards that should be followed for creating a safe and healthy work environment.

Fall Protection (NS) Training

Fall Protection Training will enable you to effectively use fall protection systems, including fall arrest and fall restraint. Train to manage the risks of working at heights and assess and control hazards related to working at heights with our Fall Protection Training Course.

H2S Alive (Energy Safety Canada)

This course is intended for workers who could be exposed to hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S). The primary focus is to provide generic H2S course content to help workers work safely in and around H2S environments. The course covers the physical properties and health hazards of H2S, how to protect oneself and basic rescue techniques. You will be required to operate a self-contained breathing apparatus and a detector tube device, and to perform rescue lift and drag exercises. METI is an ESC Authorized Training Provider.

Petroleum Safety Training – PST Training Energy Safety Canada

PST Training provides you with the knowledge and facts to prepare you to safely work in the petroleum industry.

Gas Detection Training

By completing our Gas Detection Training Course you will be able to identify toxic gases and lower explosive limits in hazardous atmospheres and be able to safely and effectively use various types of gas detection monitors.

Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) Training

This training is designed for anyone who works “under air”, for anyone who performs duties associated with Bottle Watch whether, within processing, manufacturing, construction or oil and gas, or for anyone who requires respiratory protective equipment training.

Oilfield & Construction Skilled Labourer Students receive Respiratory Protective Equipment Training – RPE Training – APR Training – SCBA/SABA/Bottle Watch Training.

Pipeline Construction Safety Training (PCST)

Pipeline Construction Safety Training – PCST Training will prepare you to identify the hazards and mitigate the risks associated with performing work on pipeline projects. Having your Pipeline Construction Safety Training – PCST Training Ticket shows you are prepared for working in and around trenches, machinery, hazardous acts and hazardous conditions, suspended loads, wildlife and extreme climate.

Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED (CSA Intermediate) Training (2 Day)

This course is designed to meet industry, business and government requirements, Standard level first aid is a modular course for those who want to learn more first aid skills. This is a two-day course that includes CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automated external defibrillator) training.

Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) Training

This course is of benefit to all individuals who are involved in the handling and transporting of dangerous goods and provides training on the proper procedures for the shipping of dangerous goods. Topics covered include Regulations and Procedures, Classification, Labels and Markings, Documentation, and Procedures for reporting leaks or accidents.

Aerial Lift Operator Training

METI’s Aerial Lift Operator Training will prepare you to safely operate boom lifts in compliance with provincial and federal regulations. Train to safely operate Power Operated Mobile Work Platforms while identifying specific health and safety hazards associated with operating scissor lifts.

Basic Personal Protective Equipment

METI’s Basic Personal Protective Equipment – PPE Training trains you to safely and effectively use the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for the task you will be performing. Whether you are a new or young worker, an experienced person in industry or in supervision or management, PPE Training benefits you because it provides training in contemporary standards for the safe use, maintenance and storage of a variety of PPE.

Basic Fire Safety Training

Basic Fire Safety Training prepares you to prevent fires by providing instruction on such topics as classification of fires, types of fire and fire behavior, types of extinguishers and uses, pre- se visual inspection of a fire extinguisher, extinguishing agents, proper sequence for extinguishing a fire, and successful completion of extinguishing a fire.

Hazardous Waste Worker Training

With Hazardous Waste Worker Training, you will be certified to work on hazardous waste remediation sites , while possessing the ability to recognize, evaluate and controlling site hazards. Hazardous Waste Worker Training satisfies all the criteria of the Environment Canada Contaminated Site Training Program, as well as exceeding Canadian Federal and Provincial requirements for contaminated site workers.

Substance Abuse Awareness & Prevention Substance

Abuse Awareness and Prevention Training discusses the use of alcohol and drugs and their effect on overall performance in the workplace. By taking our Substance Abuse Awareness and Prevention Training you will learn why a person’s ability to exercise judgment, coordination, motor control, concentration and alertness is affected at the workplace, it can lead to increased loss, such as injury or illness.  By taking Substance Abuse Awareness and Prevention Training you will also examine the effects of substance abuse as it translates into loss.

Trenching & Excavating Awareness Training

If you are working on a work site that has either trenches or excavations, you need METI’s Trenching & Excavating Awareness. Train to distinguish the characteristics and hazards that exist in trenches and excavations. Excavations have been described as any man-made cut, cavity, trench, or depression in the earth’s surface formed by earth removal. This can include excavations for anything from cellars to highways. A trench is defined as a narrow underground excavation that is deeper than it is wide. Our Trenching & Excavating Awareness will prepare you for work in and around trenches and excavations by providing you with instruction on soil testing, regulations, and industry standards and how to identify and control hazards.

Lockout Tagout (LOTO)

Lockout Tagout Training will prepare you to effectively Lockout and Tagout energy sources while working around machinery and equipment.

Hazard Assessment Training

Hazard Assessment Training prepares you to assess hazardous acts and conditions and to implement controls that help build safe and healthy workplaces. The hazard assessment and control process provides a consistent approach for employers and workers to identify and control hazards in the workplace. It allows everyone to focus their efforts in the right areas, and to develop worker training, inspections, emergency response plans, etc. specific to the hazards at their work sites.

Workplace Violence And Harassment Awareness & Prevention Training

Workplace Violence and Harassment Awareness and  Prevention Training helps you to identify and effectively deal with violence and/or harassment in the workplace. Many employers are just now realizing the significant impact undesirable behaviour such as violence and harassment can have in the workplace.  By taking METI’s Workplace Violence and Harassment Awareness and Prevention Training, you will identify harassing behaviors and effectively deal with the potential for violence in the workplace. Harassment at the workplace can take the form of sexual harassment, racial harassment, Personal harassment, bullying, harassment on grounds of sexual orientation, harassment of disabled people, age harassment, or stalking.  Our Workplace Violence & Harassment Awareness & Prevention Training covers all forms of such abusive behaviour.

Confined Space Rescue Training

METI’s Confined Space Rescue Training has been developed in accordance with NFPA standards and adheres to NS Occupational Safety General Regulations.  Training provides you with an interactive presentation of content and material based on the most recent industry practices. METI provides you with a hands-on, practical confined space rescue training application in our confined space training simulator.

Tool Safety Training

Our Hand Tool Safety Training instructs you on the characteristics of hand tools and power tools, the basic rules for all tools and power tool safety.  Training can benefit managers, supervisors and workers by training you in safe procedures for hand tools and powered hand tools.

WHMIS GHS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System – Globally Harmonized Standard)

By taking METI’s GHS – WHMIS Training you will be able to distinguish many elements of the “old” WHMIS from the “new” WHMIS: when and how to use a material safety data sheet and a safety data sheet; the “old” symbols from the “new” pictograms; the “old” hazard classes from the “new” hazard classes; GHS hazard groupings and building block concept.

Basic Frame Scaffolding, Staging (User & Erector) Training

This training prepares and certifies you with the skills and knowledge to safely and effectively erect and use basic frame scaffold.
